Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • The cassette has a great price-quality ratio.
  • The cassette supports smooth shifting due to the specific shape of the teeth.
  • This cassette won't eat into your freehub body as quickly, because the first 8 sprockets are placed on a spider.
  • The cassette is available in a variety of gear ratios, so there's a good option for every cyclist.
  • This cassette is relatively heavy.
  • Your derailleur won't shift as quickly with this cassette when your pedals are under strain, compared to cassettes from a higher price range.
  • This cassette's coating is less resistant to wear than cassettes from a higher price range.

Good replacement for my old cassette.

- Maurice 15 April 2026

Good cassette for road bike. After replacing the front sprocket and chain, I found that the chain was skipping on my old cassette. I put the new cassette on myself. With the right tools, this is not difficult. Tapped it with a rubber hammer to loosen the old cassette. Useful video instructions from Mantel.

Pros & Cons

good gear ratios
quality product
self-assembly
switches smoothly

Thank you Shimano for the variety of equipment!

- Patrick 23 March 2026

This 11/34 cassette has a good range of gears, and was installed without any problems with the chain or derailleur, replacing an 11/32 (the mountains get steeper as you get older!).
